5.2.0.Beta1 released!

This is the complete list of bugs/features released. Highlights:

  • Various enhancements for the distributed executor framework (ISPN-2287ISPN-2286ISPN-1513)

  • A new, faster, more efficient and elegant implementation of the AsyncCacheStore - big thanks to Karsten Blees for contributing it!

  • The default transaction enlistment model has changed from "xa" to "synchronization". You should only care about this if you’re using recovery (ISPN-1284).

  • The ability to mark a site as offline after a certain number of request (ISPN-2319)

You can download the distribution or the maven artifact. If you have any questions please check our forums, our mailing lists or ping us directly on IRC!

5.0.0.BETA2 released with better distribution!

A brand new Infinispan 5.0 "Pagoa" beta is out now, 5.0.0.BETA2 bringing even more goodies for Infinispan users:

  • Initial implementation of virtual nodes for consistent hash algorithm based distribution is included. This means that each Infinispan node can now pick multiple nodes in the hash wheel reducing the standard deviation and so improving the distribution of data. The configuration is done via the numVirtualNodes attribute in hash element.

  • The externalizer configuration has been revamped in order to make it more user-friendly! You only need the @SerializeWith annotation and an Externalizer implementation in its most basic form, but more advanced externalizer configuration is still available for particular use cases. The wiki on plugging externalizers has been rewritten to show these changes.

  • lazyDeserialization XML element has been renamed to *http://docs.jboss.org/infinispan/5.0/apidocs/config.html#ce_default_storeAsBinary[storeAsBinary]* in order to better represent its function. The previous programmatic configuration for this option has been deprecated to help ease migration but your XML will need changing.

  • All references to JOPR, including the maven module name have been renamed to RHQ. So bear make sure you plug your RHQ server with *infinispan-rhq-plugin.jar* instead of infinispan-jopr-plugin.jar

There’s some other minor API changes and fixes as show in the release notes. As always, please use the user forums to report back, grab the release here, enjoy and keep the feedback coming.

Cheers,

Galder

Infinispan 4.1Beta2 released

Hi,

The second and hopefully last Beta for 4.1 has just been released. Thanks to excellent community feedback, several HotRod client/server issues were fixed. Besides this and other bug-fixes (check this for complete list), following new features were added: - an key affinity service that generates keys to be distributed to specific nodes - RemoteCacheStore that allow an Infinspan cluster to be used as an remote data store

Enjoy! Mircea

Another beta for Infinispan

Rather than releasing a CR1 so soon, I have decided to cut another beta instead, mainly due to the sheer volume of changes since the last beta. So here is what you have to look forward to. A pile of bugs fixed thanks to reports made by you, the community. A couple of packages upgraded, including JGroups (to 2.8.0.CR2) and JBoss Marshalling (to 1.2.0.CR4). And two new modules introduced: a tech preview of the query API, and the new RESTful server module, thanks to Navin and Michael accordingly. A full list of issues addressed in this release is available on JIRA.

We’re pushing hard for a series of CRs now, to solidify the codebase and make sure it exceeds expectations in performance, scalability, stability and ease of use. Your feedback has always been valuable, please keep it coming!

This release is available for download in the usual place, and the wiki should be used as your primary port-of-call for documentation. Discuss issues on the user forum, and don’t forget to tweet about Infinispan! :-)

Enjoy

First beta now available!

image So today I’ve finally cut the much-awaited Infinispan 4.0.0.BETA1. Codenamed Starobrno - after the Czech beer that was omnipresent during early planning sessions of Infinispan - Beta1 is finally feature-complete. This is also the first release where distribution is complete, with rehashing on joins and leaves implemented as well. In addition, a number of bugs reported on previous alpha releases have been tended to.

This is a hugely important release for Infinispan. No more features will be added to 4.0.0, and all efforts will now focus on stability, performance and squashing bugs. And for this we need your help! Download, try out, feedback. And you will be rewarded with a rock-solid, lightning-fast final release that you can depend on.

Some things that have changed since the alphas include a better mechanism of naming caches and overriding configurations, and a new configuration XML reference guide. Don’t forget the 5-minute guide for the impatient, and the interactive tutorial to get you started as well.

There are a lot of folk to thank - way too many to list here, but you all know who you are. For a full set of release notes, visit this JIRA page.

Download, try it out, and feedback as much as possible. We’d love to hear from you!

Enjoy Manik
